Interrupt the Pipeline
Interrupt the Pipeline depicts the ongoing process of urban displacement due to gentrification. The film explores how this process effects education, linking inner city Chicago with Champaign-Urbana, where growing numbers of displaced inner-city families have moved. Children, in increasing numbers, find themselves incarcerated and deprived of their right to a fair and equal education. Project M.A.R.O.O.N.S. (Mentoring Aggressive Responsible Opportunists to Overcome the Negatives of Society) is a peer-based mentoring program that uses the film to attempt to deal with these issues.
